• Help! Warrior Dash Is Gone...Which Obstacle Course Race Should I Try??

INTRO

As many of you have heard by now, the obstacle course race formerly known as Warrior Dash is no more. And that's a huge bummer! Founded back back in 2009, it was one of the oldest and longest-standing OCRs in existence. If you missed it and want to catch up on the news, Obstacle Racing Media published an article about it here, and Mud Run Guide published an article here.

What's a newbie to do?? Warrior Dash had a special place in many of our hearts, because it was also well-positioned to be a first OCR experience as the course and obstacles were very "newbie-friendly." To add insult to injury, a TON of people out there are registered for 2019 Warrior Dash events, and as of this writing it seems as if they won't be getting their money back.

But there's good news!

Several other OCR brands have stepped up to offer either a discounted or free entry to those who can prove they were registered for one of the cancelled Warrior Dash events. A list of them can be found here, and will be updated periodically.

YEAH BUT...WHAT OTHER OCR COULD EVER HOPE TO FILL THE WARRIOR-DASH SHAPED HOLE IN MY HEART??

Okay, For those of you who may be new to obstacle course racing and want a little more information, or a little more help deciding which event might be a good substitute for your Warrior Dash event, we have put together a fun mini quiz to help you decide. Check it out below! And no matter which race you decide on, don't forget to get FUELED UP for your race day!

Quiz Now That Warrior Dash Is Gone Which Obstacle Course Race Should I Try

I DON'T FEEL LIKE TAKING THE QUIZ. WHAT ARE THE RACES IN IT, AND WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM?

No problem. You're busy -- we get it! Below are the 10 races included in the quiz so you can check them out at a glance and compare:

*Note: Distance and # Obstacles obtained from each brand's site. Listed Price of entry is an approximation based on the next several events listed on the site as of time of posting. The "Warrior Dash discount/offers" information obtained from Mud Run Guide article here and is subject to change.

    CONCLUSION

At the end of the day, ALL obstacle course race brands are pretty awesome. Whether you're getting muddy or not...whether you're honoring fallen war veterans...or forced to jump into freezing cold water...or you try out the most massive water slide you've ever seen, each brand brings something unique and fun to the table. Regardless of whether you love it and become a total "medal addict" or you decide you NEVER want to do anything like this again, it is sure to be an experience you will always remember.

That finisher beer at the end...that isn't too bad either.

(PS: Don't forget to fuel up for your race...you've gotta keep that energy up to make sure you get a killer finisher pic, right??)

Have YOU ever run a Warrior Dash? What was your experience like? What race would YOU recommend instead? Let us know in the comments!
